The study of the impacts of weather-climate extreme events and climate change (T1.3) and compound climate events (T1.4) is carried out by combining various methodologies: analysis of existing documentation (archives, newspaper articles, technical and scientific publications), semi-structured interviews and participatory mapping exercises with residents who have experienced the study events and climate change, and the reconstruction of event-based chains of impacts using a dedicated and already tested methodology. The possibility of informing the impacts of climate change based on Indigenous Knowledge has been tested in New Caledonia and validated in the Kanak context, as it provides a high added value and is complementary with conventional Western scientific approaches.

The reconstruction of trajectories of exposure and vulnerability to climate events and climate change (T1.5) is based upon the analysis of various documents (historical documents covering a long period of time, maps, etc.) and interviews with practitioners and decision-makers and residents.
